FM radio on a single transistor
Hello, in this article I would like to show you how to make an FM receiver using a single transistor. The circuit is quite simple so it can be repeated by anyone. Since this circuit is simple, you should not expect very good sound quality from it, the circuit is designed for experimental and educational purposes, but the sound quality is not bad at all.
Parts and Features:
- MPF102 or BF256 transistor – https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DecqnRF;
- Ceramic capacitors: 1 nF, 15 pF, 4.7 pF, 4.7 nF, 100 nF – https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DFbluJP;
- 1 kOhm trimmer resistor;
- Copper wire in lacquer insulation 0.8 mm;
- 10 kOhm resistor;
- Variable capacitor 10-60 pF – https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DFxwOzL;
- Loudspeaker with amplifier;
- 9-12V power supply.

To begin, we will solder all the radio parts in their places according to the diagram below:

For the coils, I took 0.8 mm wire and wound three coils on AAA battery: 2, 5, and 26 turns. We solder them to their places on the board according to the diagram above.
When all the FM receiver circuit is soldered you need to solder the 9-12V power, a loudspeaker with an amplifier, and the antenna, preferably an active one.
Rotating the variable capacitor we should find stations that broadcast in your city, if they are not present then try to gradually widen the turns of small coils and then the stations will have to appear.
